Planning your trip…
New Visa Requirement
There is a new visa requirement scheduled to go into effect in mid-2025 which applies to non-EU citizens entering the EU. More information here: https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias/what-etias_en.
Flying into Poland
We recommend flying into Warsaw (Chopin Airport: WAW) at least the day before to give yourself ample time to make your way to Białystok, get settled, and prepare for the wedding ceremony and reception the following day. You may be jetlagged after your trip. For Americans, the timezone difference may work to your advantage for the night of the reception ;)
Getting to Białystok
There are a few ways you can get from the airport to Białystok — by car, train, or bus. If you are looking for flexibility or want to explore Poland after the wedding, we recommend renting a car. If you are traveling light and don’t mind an extra connection (i.e. Uber/bus from the airport to the train station), the fastest express train can take you from Warsaw Central Station to Białystok in 1h 34m for $5-20 (varying based on time of day and class of ticket). You can also take a bus that goes from Chopin Airport to Białystok’s city center, making stops along the way, for $17.50 per person (3h 25m). We recommend PlusBus as one of the may bus options.
Getting Around Białystok
Based on where you are located in Białystok, you can choose to get around by rental car, bus, or ride share (Bolt/Uber). Bolt is more popular than Uber in Białystok, while Uber is more popular than Bolt in Warsaw. You should be able to get a ride with either, but if one doesn’t work you might want to try the other. If you are staying near the city center, you’ll be able to get around to most points of interest on foot.
Getting to the Events
We expect our guests who would like to join us for our church ceremony to make their way to the church on their own, as everyone will be arriving from different places. We plan to rent a bus (or multiple buses) to take our guests from the church to the venue for the reception. We are also looking into ways that we can get our guests back to their hotels safely after the reception, and will keep the website update with that information as it becomes available. For the day-after BBQ, we hope guests will be able to make their way to Majątek Howieny in the morning, though we know that milage may vary the following day.
Traveling Around Poland
Just as in the “Getting to Białystok” section, you can continue your travels around Poland by car, train, or bus. We’ll leave that decision up to you, but feel feel to reach out to us with any questions. We’re happy to provide recommendations about things to do in Poland, which you can find in the Explore Poland tab.
Weather in August
August is typically warm (around 20-25°C, or 68-77°F) and not too humid, though you might experience occasional rain. Be sure to pack light clothing for the day but bring a jacket or sweater for the evenings.
